Support — Ping Bee
Our support channel is on Discord, and it's also linked from Settings → Community & support in the app. Ask a question there and you'll usually get an answer the same day.
We read every message and normally reply within two business days. To help us sort it out faster, please include your device model, your Android or iOS version, and the app version (shown in Settings under About Ping Bee).
Common questions
My sites aren't being checked as often as I set
This is the single most common question, and it's worth being straight about: Ping Bee checks your sites from your phone, not from a server of ours.
While the app is open, it keeps to the interval you chose. When the app is closed, Android and iOS decide when apps are allowed to run, so background checks are best effort rather than an exact schedule. Battery saver, Doze and low-power modes delay them further.
That's a limitation of monitoring from a phone rather than a bug, and we'd rather say so here than have you discover it during an outage. Two things make it as reliable as it can be:
- Turn on Keep monitoring in the background in Settings. On Android this runs a foreground service, so checks keep going with the app closed — you'll see a permanent notification the whole time it's active, by design;
- Allow Ping Bee to ignore battery optimisation when the app offers. Settings shows you whether Android is currently delaying your checks, and can take you straight to the right system screen.
I'm not getting notifications
Work through these in order:
- Check that Push notifications is on in Ping Bee's Settings;
- Check that notifications are allowed for Ping Bee in your phone's own system settings — a permission denied once is not asked for again;
- Check Quiet hours. If you're inside the window you set, the alarm is silenced;
- Remember that a site has to fail two checks in a row before it's declared offline. That's deliberate: it stops a single blip from waking you up.
The alarm didn't ring
The alarm is opt-in and per-site — switch it on for the individual sites you can't afford to miss, and make sure Alarm for outages is enabled in Settings. Quiet hours silence the alarm; ordinary notifications still arrive during those hours.
You can hear your chosen tone at any time from Settings → Alarm tone before you rely on it.
A site shows as offline but it loads fine in my browser
Ping Bee sends the same kind of request a browser does, but a few things can still make a working site look down:
- The site blocks or rate-limits non-browser requests, or sits behind a bot-protection layer;
- The response took longer than the Check timeout in Settings — raise it for slow sites;
- The site redirects and you have Follow redirects turned off;
- An HTTPS certificate has expired or doesn't match the hostname;
- Your phone was offline. Ping Bee tries to tell a real outage apart from your own connection dropping, but a flaky connection can still produce a false alarm.
Open the site in the app to see the exact status code and response time for each check — that usually points straight at the cause.
What's the difference between free and Pro?
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Sites monitored | Up to 5 | Unlimited |
| Fastest check interval | 5 minutes | 1 minute, while the app is open |
| History kept | 24 hours | Up to 30 days |
| Certificate expiry warnings | — | Yes |
| Slow response alerts | — | Yes |
| Alarm tones and options | Basic | Extended |
| Home screen widget | — | Yes |
| Export and import | — | Yes |
Pro is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription, and there are no ads in either tier.
I paid, but Pro isn't unlocked
Purchases are verified with the store before Pro is granted, which can take a moment. Open Settings → Restore purchases — that re-checks the store and unlocks Pro if the purchase is there. Use the same store account you bought with.
If it still doesn't unlock, email us your store receipt and we'll sort it out.
I reinstalled or changed phones — do I lose Pro?
No. Your Pro purchase is held by the store against your account, not by us. Install Ping Bee on the new device, sign in to the same store account, and tap Restore purchases.
Your monitors and history are a different matter: they live only on your phone, so they don't travel by themselves. On Pro, use Settings → Export / import to save your list as a JSON file before you switch, then import it on the new device. Importing adds sites and skips duplicates, so it's safe to run twice.
Can I get a refund?
Payments are handled by the app store, not by us, so refunds have to go through them. On Google Play, use your order history in the Play Store app or at play.google.com. On iOS, use reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I delete my data?
Ping Bee has no account and no server, so there is nothing of yours held anywhere else. Settings → Delete all local data permanently removes every monitor, check result and alert from the device. Uninstalling the app does the same thing.
Note that deleting local data does not cancel a Pro purchase — that's held by the store, and Restore purchases brings it back.
Where do my monitored URLs go?
Nowhere but the sites themselves. Checks are made directly from your phone to the websites you added; they don't pass through any server we operate, and we never see them. The Privacy Policy sets this out in full.
Found a bug, or want a feature?
Both are welcome — Discord is the best place for it, and we do read every suggestion. For a bug, the most useful report includes what you expected, what happened instead, and the URL you were monitoring if you're happy to share it.
